Volunteer in the BCPS Library
Primary school libraries are often called the heart of the school, acting as a central hub for literacy, imagination, and community, giving each and every student access to quality books, safe spaces, and a lifelong love of reading.
Unfortunately, due to district-wide budget cuts, our library is no longer adequately staffed to offer the optimal experience. We are looking for parents and family members who can commit to a weekly volunteer shift to support our librarian and protect this vital student resource.
Duties may include:
- Helping students browse the collection
- Checking in/out books
- Shelving
- Preparing materials for educator use
- Cataloging new books
- Covering/repairing books
- Creating displays to celebrate seasons, holidays, cultures, inspirational figures, etc.
